ELDERLY MEALS
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This brings the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000. The pool, initially established in 2021, provides nutritious meals through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and Meals on Wheels for homebound individuals. The extension aims to maintain efficiency and reduce administrative burdens for existing vendors. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, currently participate. During a committee meeting, Commissioner Lopez expressed concern about food insecurity among seniors in District 5 and requested a list of vendors serving her district, which was to be provided after the meeting. The program is federally funded by the Alliance for Aging, Inc. under the Older Americans Act.
