HOLE IN THE DOUGHNUT CONVEYANCE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Commissioners approved the amended resolution to declare surplus and convey approximately 32 acres of vacant county-owned land adjacent to the Homestead Air Reserve Base to the United States of America, acting through the Department of the Air Force. The conveyance is at no cost and for military purposes to support national defense interests. Approximately 2 of the 32 acres will be retained by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department until no later than June 2027, after which they will also be conveyed to the Air Force. The conveyance of the remaining balance of the 32 acres was authorized immediately. A request to convey five acres to the Sheriff's Office was not incorporated as no formal request was submitted and the property was not part of the subject conveyance. The land was originally transferred to the County from the U.S. Government at no cost and will be conveyed back similarly. A water main extension will be required for water connectivity to the property. The environmental baseline study is pending completion by HARB.
