INCREASING SECURITY GUARD

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted an ordinance approving and ratifying non-ad valorem assessment rolls, rates, and assessments for 20 certain security guard special taxing districts for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2026, and ending September 30, 2027. The total assessment for these 20 districts is $10,490,955. These funds are necessary to continue providing security guard services, cover contractual increases from private security companies, and off-duty police. Failure to approve these rates could result in reduced service hours and unattended guard gates. The assessments are levied on properties within the affected districts and will be collected similarly to ad valorem taxes, with non-payment potentially leading to loss of title. Exhibit A, which is incorporated by reference, contains the legal descriptions of the areas, units of measurement, and assessment amounts for each district.
