Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. R-491-26, approving the award of Contract No. EVN0013523 to CODEX Corp. for a Rounds, Inmate, and Detainee Tracking Management Solution. The contract is valued at $7,000,000.00 for an initial five-year term with one, five-year option to renew. The solution will be implemented countywide for the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety by enabling real-time tracking of inmates and detainees, replacing paper-based processes. Commissioner Milian Orbis inquired about current tracking methods and facility implementation; Chief Moreno explained the integration of two systems via a tablet-based platform to monitor inmate welfare, safety checks, head counts, and movement, eliminating paper logs. The new system will be deployed at all four existing correctional facilities and any future ones. The Board proceeded to vote without further questions or comments. The Safety and Health Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
