Miami-Dade County adopted an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 94-68 to allow the Highland Lakes Security Guard Special Taxing District to use license plate readers or other updated visitor management technology to document visitor vehicles. The ordinance was adopted on final action on June 2, 2026, after a first reading on May 5, 2026. The public hearing had no attendees wishing to speak. The amendment allows for the documentation of visitor vehicles entering and exiting the district, in addition to the existing security guard services and capital improvements like guardhouses, walls, and road closures.
