Miami-Dade County adopted an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 94-68 to allow the Highland Lakes Security Guard Special Taxing District to use license plate readers or other updated visitor management technology to document visitor vehicles. The ordinance was adopted on final action on June 2, 2026, after a first reading on May 5, 2026. The public hearing had no attendees wishing to speak. The amendment allows for the monitoring of vehicular lanes adjacent to the guardhouses. Capital improvements previously included construction of guardhouses, installation of card readers and gates, a frontage road, and a concrete wall.
