Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from FY 2026 through FY 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic guide for transit needs, infrastructure, financial framework, land use integration, and future demand. The update includes a 10-year operating and capital program. Public involvement included surveys (over 5,000 responses), pop-up events, social media outreach, analysis of 311 calls, and the Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ambassador program. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) with representatives from various entities also provided input. The plan found that riders are generally satisfied and feel safe at stations, with opportunities to improve safety in accessing stations and stops. Ridership growth is forecasted to outpace population growth, particularly among choice riders, with the development of additional premium transit corridors. The adoption is a prerequisite for State Public Transit Block Grant funds.
