Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution approving the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works' (DTPW) Major Update of the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP). This 10-year plan, covering Fiscal Years 2026 through 2035 and branded as MDT10Ahead, serves as a strategic blueprint for transit investment, identifies long-term infrastructure needs, and explores the relationship between land use and transit. The adoption is a prerequisite for receiving State Public Transit Block Grant funds from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The plan was developed with stakeholder input, including a transit rider survey with over 5,000 responses, presentations to various committees, and an Advisory Review Committee. Public comment indicated general rider satisfaction and a feeling of safety at stations, with opportunities for improvement in accessing stations and stops. The plan forecasts ridership growth outpacing population growth, particularly among choice riders, with the development of additional premium transit corridors.
