TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN MAJOR UPDATE

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from FY 2026 through FY 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic blueprint for meeting transportation needs. It establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and documents anticipated future demand. The update includes an overview of the TDP, public involvement process, metropolitan transportation planning coordination, operating environment, relationship to other plans, land use and corridor plan, demand estimation, and a 10-year implementation plan with priority, funded, partially funded, and uncommitted projects. Public outreach included a survey with over 5,000 responses, pop-up events, social media efforts, analysis of 311 calls, and the Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ambassador program. The survey indicated general rider satisfaction and feelings of safety at stations, with opportunities to improve safety in accessing stations and stops. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) provided guidance. The plan is coordinated with other county plans and regional partners. Ridership growth is forecasted to outpace population growth, with significant increases among choice riders.
