ILA FOR PROVISION OF ON-DEMAND SERVICES WITH NORTH MIAMI

Transportation Cmte · 2026-07-14 · resolution

Miami-Dade County and the City of North Miami are entering into an Interlocal Agreement for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, effective retroactively to February 5, 2026, is for a five-year term with two five-year renewal options. The City of North Miami will cover all program costs using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no fiscal impact to Miami-Dade County. The service aims to enhance local mobility by providing dynamically routed, stop-to-stop transportation within and around North Miami, connecting to key destinations with a maximum trip length of five miles. This service complements existing Miami-Dade County bus routes. The service began in July 2023, operated by Freebee using four Tesla Model X and two Tesla Model Y vehicles, with specified hours of operation. The Board of County Commissioners is set to approve the agreement on September 1, 2026. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
