The City of Mount Dora Historic Preservation Board is reviewing procedures for historic sites. Any work on buildings, structures, improvements, or landscape features within the city that are designated historic sites will require a certificate of appropriateness. This certificate must be approved before any exterior architectural features, landscape features, or site improvements can be erected, altered, restored, renovated, excavated, relocated, or demolished. This review is currently planned and represents an early stage in the process. The work that will eventually be set in motion by these procedures could include site clearing, grading, construction, restoration, and landscaping. Local contractors, trades, suppliers, and service providers should engage with the city early to understand upcoming requirements and potential opportunities as these procedures are finalized. Early engagement can provide an advantage before specific projects are defined and bids are solicited.
