GARBAGE COLLECTION
Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee · 2026-07-15 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is seeking to authorize a non-competitive designated purchase for garbage collection and disposal services under Contract No. 6938-2/22. This authorization includes an extension of three years and an additional expenditure of $19,411,303.00, bringing the total modified cumulative amount to $81,897,586.00. This extension is needed for multiple county departments, including Housing and Community Development (HCD), Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS), Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR), People and Internal Operations (PIOD), and Water and Sewer (WASD), to continue receiving these essential services without interruption. The extension also provides time for the Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) to transition these services from contracted vendors to in-house operations. The original contract was approved on September 17, 2013, and the current term expires May 31, 2028. The proposed modification extends the contract to May 31, 2031. The decision is pending a two-thirds vote of the Board members present.
