The City of Fernandina Beach is undertaking a Traffic Circulation and Parking Study for a 36-block area in downtown. This study will assess current parking issues and traffic flow, especially along Ash Street and Broome Street, and will help support a downtown revitalization plan that includes new sidewalks, lighting, and planters. The study area is bordered by 8th Street/SR A1A/SR 200 to the east, Front Street to the west, Broome Street to the north, and Beech Street to the south. This item is currently under review as a Task Work Order, Phase D. The work involves gathering data on traffic counts, parking usage, and the impact of ongoing projects like the opening of Alachua Street and the Streetscape project on Center Street. It will also evaluate walkability and document findings. This study is expected to be completed by December 31, 2024.
