The City of Ormond Beach is addressing an unexpected issue discovered during utility adjustments along Williamson Boulevard, specifically concerning a water main under Hand Avenue. The project involved relocating a 16-inch potable water main, but a 12-inch main was found in place. To ensure consistent 16-inch diameter and optimal performance for this critical interconnection between Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach, a new 16-inch water main was installed under Hand Avenue. This work has already been completed as an emergency procurement. The project involved site work and underground utility installation, specifically the replacement of a water main. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers involved in underground utility work, concrete, and paving could find opportunities by engaging with the city early on future infrastructure projects, as this situation highlights the need for proactive planning and potential for unforeseen work.
