The Titusville Environmental Commission (TEC) met on April 15, 2026. A motion was made and seconded to recommend to City Council to move forward with a brackish water study and to consider looking into a study on Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) as well as wellfield recharge. The motion passed with a unanimous roll call vote. Stan Johnston commented on his family history in military service and expressed concerns about sewage spray. Mary Sphar provided an in-depth review of wetlands policies and strategies, discussing Policy 1.1.1, 1.1.3, 1.1.6, and 1.1.8. Discussions included critical habitats, partnering with Brevard County, environmental surveys, land donations, and mitigation. The commission suggested adding 'and respective watershed' to Strategy 1.1.3.1. Member Tucker suggested adding 'mitigation' to the last sentence of Policy 1.1.6. Assistant City Attorney Melito clarified that Policy 1.1.6 is for property purchase and land donations might need a separate section. Future agenda items include Wetland Conservation, Outreach efforts, Flooding, Sustainability Action Plan, and Stormwater.
