The Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-675-26 (File Number 260583) on 7/21/2026, authorizing amended and restated County deeds to Building Better Communities of South Florida, Inc. for three properties (Folio Nos. 10-7813-050-0380, 30-5032-000-0370, and 30-5032-000-0380) in County Commission District 9. The resolution permits Building Better Communities to convey the properties to its affiliate, Javon Gardens LLC, a joint venture between Building Better Communities and Pyramid Construction, and grants a two-year extension to July 29, 2028, to construct multi-family rental units and obtain final certificates of occupancy for units rented to very low-, low-, or moderate-income households. The properties were originally conveyed on May 7, 2019, under Resolution R-440-19 for single-family homes under the Infill Housing Program, and were later allowed to be used for multi-family rental units under Resolution R-124-24. The extension granted under R-124-24 expires on July 29, 2026. Building Better Communities cited uncontrollable delays, including completion of surveys, and its inability to secure financing on its own as justification for the extension and transfer request. The resolution also authorizes the County Mayor or designee to exercise the County's reversionary interest or accept a deed back to the County if deed restrictions are not met, and to ensure proper signage is placed on the properties identifying the County's name and the district commissioner's name. The Housing Committee forwarded the item to the Board with a favorable recommendation on 6/9/2026.
