Ordinance changing the boundaries of the City of Florida City to annex the unincorporated area referred to as Area J. The annexation area is the West 1/2 of Section 23, Township 57 South, Range 38 East, together with the East 1/2 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section 22, Township 57 South, Range 38 East, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Approximate outer boundaries are on the north by SW 328th Street (Southwest 7th Street), on the east by SW 192nd Avenue, on the south by SW 344th Street, and on the west by SW 199th Avenue. The ordinance was adopted on first reading on 7/21/2026 and set for a public hearing before the Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee on 9/10/2026. The applicant is the City of Florida City, which submitted an application on September 15, 2021. The prime sponsor is Kionne L. McGhee. The ordinance includes conditions for County retention of utility tax revenues, residential garbage and refuse collection, jurisdiction over certain restrictive covenants and areas of countywide significance, and a one-time stormwater bond debt service payment of $1,709.71 by the City. The effective date is contingent on execution of an interlocal agreement.
