RESOLUTION CALLING A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution
Resolution calling a countywide special election in Miami-Dade County, Florida, to be held in conjunction with the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to submit to electors the question of whether to amend the Home Rule Charter to increase the length of district residency to run for County Commissioner. The amendment would change the residency requirement for Commission members, increasing the minimum time a candidate must reside within their district from six months to one year before the start of the qualifying period. The resolution was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on 7/21/2026. The Charter Review Task Force recommended the referendum by a vote of ten in favor and none against. A scrivener's error was corrected, replacing 'Resolution No. R-255-24' with 'Resolution No. R-225-24'.
