SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program aims to streamline the permit application process for eligible projects such as fences (under six feet), gates, stairs, driveways, pools, windows, doors, roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior demolition, sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and MEP repairs. Projects requiring structural review, those in historic districts, with open code cases, or legalizing violations are excluded. Applicants will submit documents electronically for potential same-day review and approval. The County Mayor or designee will implement the program and provide six-month progress reports. Fee reductions may apply if delays are department-caused. The ordinance was introduced on July 14, 2026, and was before the Board on July 21, 2026.
