SOUTHEAST FL REGIONAL CLIMATE COMPACT ILA

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Commissioners are considering a Resolution to approve an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact. This agreement involves Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties. Miami-Dade County is to contribute $285,000 over three fiscal years (2027-2029), with $95,000 annually. Broward County will retain and supervise the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) on behalf of the four counties. The ISC provides services related to the Compact. The agreement has been previously approved in various forms since 2016. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded this item to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation on June 9, 2026. The Board is scheduled to take action on July 21, 2026. The agreement aims to continue regional collaboration on climate challenges and resilience efforts, building on past successes like securing funding for the Resilient Florida Grant Program and contributing to projects such as the C-51 Reservoir and Coral Reef Conservation Area.
